Frequently asked questions about LADON Ovi door

Frequently asked questions

What is the weight capacity of the wheels and soft-close mechanisms?

The maximum supported weight for the wheel and soft-close mechanisms is 60 kg. Doors heavier than 60 kg are not practical to operate, and the mechanism warranty will no longer apply.

What’s included in the delivery? Are rails included in the door price?

We offer two delivery options. The complete package is a full installation set that includes the door, a rustic matte black wheel rail mechanism, a matte black handle, a floor-mounted bottom guide, a spacer board, and all necessary screws and nuts. For drywall installations, suitable screws and drywall anchors must be purchased separately. If you already have your own door, you can also order the rail mechanism separately.

Can I order just the door panel?

Unfortunately, we only sell LADON Ovi doors as a complete sliding door packages, which also include the rail system.

What size opening is the door suitable for?

Standard LADON Ovi door widths are 914 mm and 1067 mm. We recommend choosing a door that is slightly wider than the opening to ensure proper coverage, as the door does not sit tightly against the doorway. The maximum recommended opening widths are therefore approximately 900 mm and 1050 mm. The standard door height is 2134 mm, meaning the opening height can be up to 2130 mm.

The total installed door height is 2277 mm. In addition, the wheel mechanism adds 128 mm measured from the top edge of the door. Floor clearance and installation space must also be taken into account. The room height must therefore be at least 2288 mm for standard LADON Ovi doors — calculated as the door height plus 154 mm.

Are LADON Ovi doors available as made-to-measure products?

Modern LADON Ovi doors are also available in custom sizes. Leave an offer request and we will provide an offer based on your measurements. Unfortunately, traditional LADON Ovi doors are currently not available as made-to-measure products due to global wood availability issues.

I would like double doors for an opening nearly two meters wide, is that possible?

Yes, double doors are possible. Two LADON Ovi door rails can be connected using a rail connector. However, the additional connector piece is not mandatory.

What is the weight capacity of the mechanism?

The sliding mechanism itself is durable and sturdy. The sliding rail is made of iron, and under normal use there are no concerns regarding its durability. The most important consideration is the strength of the wall material. Concrete, stone, and brick walls can support the weight of a LADON Ovi door without issues. If the wall is made of plasterboard, the rail mounting screws must be installed into the wall studs. Ensuring the suitability of the wall material is the customer’s responsibility.

Can the door be installed in a humid space? What about the mechanism alone?

LADON Ovi doors are designed for indoor use only, similarly to standard partition doors. Neither the LADON Ovi door nor its mechanism should be installed outdoors or in humid spaces. Solid wood surfaces may warp, bend, or dent when exposed to moisture. Solid wood doors should also not be exposed to significant changes in temperature or humidity.
The LADON Ovi door can be installed as a room divider between, for example, a bedroom and a dressing room or utility room. However, installation in spaces directly connected to humid areas is not recommended.

For public spaces and commercial use, a limited warranty policy applies.

Is this door suitable for a summer kitchen environment?

We do not recommend the door for outdoor use. Weather conditions may cause rust on the rail mechanism or affect the shape of the door. LADON Ovi doors are designed specifically for indoor installation to ensure long-lasting durability. The wooden door can tolerate minor splashes but not continuous exposure to moisture.

Can the sliding rail be shortened? If so, how?

Yes. The LADON Ovi door sliding rail can easily be shortened using, for example, an angle grinder. It can also be cut with a hacksaw, although an angle grinder is generally easier due to the thickness of the rail. When shortening the rail, it may be necessary to drill new mounting holes for the rail brackets or soft-close hinges. Please note that modifying the sliding rail voids the product warranty and the product will no longer be eligible for return under our online store terms and conditions.

Is it possible to get a longer rail for the door package?

Additional rail sections can be ordered separately, for example via email. The LADON Ovi sliding door package includes pre-installed soft-close dampers, so the dampers may need to be repositioned slightly when extending the rail. This can be done by drilling new holes into the rail and securing the dampers with screws.

I would like to build my own LADON Ovi door. What is the minimum and maximum material thickness compatible with the mechanism? What else should I consider?

The screws included with the LADON Ovi door are designed for materials between 35–40 mm thick. However, our customers have also successfully used materials such as 20 mm plywood and materials thicker than 40 mm with the LADON Ovi door rail system.

With different material thicknesses, the screws may need to be shortened or replaced with longer ones. A groove for the bottom guide must also be made in the door. The groove should be approximately 20 mm high and 7 mm wide.

How much does the door move if it is not fixed at the bottom?

The door does not swing freely because it is supported by a bottom guide. In the complete door package, a groove is pre-made in the bottom of the door for the guide. The bottom guide keeps the door securely in place, making it stable and sturdy during use.

Depending on the door and installation location, you can choose either a wall-mounted or floor-mounted bottom guide. The standard complete door package and rail package include a floor-mounted bottom guide. A wall-mounted guide is available as an accessory.

How does the bottom guide work? Is it necessary?

Both the complete LADON Ovi door packages and the rail-only mechanisms include one floor-mounted bottom guide. The bottom guide prevents the door from swinging and potentially coming off the rail, so installing it is extremely important. If needed, the guide can also be glued into place, for example on tiled floors. A wall-mounted bottom guide is also available as an accessory.

Can the door be installed to a plasterboard wall?

Yes, it can. The delivery includes a wall-mounted spacer board onto which the upper rail is attached. For plasterboard installations, you can use plasterboard anchors (not included in the delivery). The screws must be fixed into the wall studs behind the plasterboard to ensure proper support.

It is important to verify the load-bearing capacity of the wall. Installation is always the customer’s responsibility, but if you are unsure, we recommend consulting a professional. Please also consider all safety aspects during installation.

Is installing the spacer board necessary?

No, it is not mandatory. However, the spacer board strengthens the installation and increases the distance between the door and the wall, allowing features such as light switches or skirting boards to fit behind the door. We strongly recommend using the spacer board, especially when installing the rail on a plasterboard wall.

How much space is left between the door and the wall?

With traditional LADON Ovi doors, the gap between the wall and the top edge of the door is 15 mm at the wheels screw locations. With the spacer board installed, the gap increases to 33 mm.
At the bottom edge, the corresponding gap is 20 mm without the spacer board and 38 mm with the spacer board. The plywood LADON Ovi door is 23 mm thinner than the traditional LADON Ovi door, meaning the gap between the wall and the door is approximately 23 mm larger.

Is installing a LADON Ovi door easy?

Yes! Installation instructions are included with every LADON Ovi door delivery, and by following them carefully, installation is straightforward and smooth. We recommend installation by two people.
